twice now

That this tour has clashed with my glass. It’s what I signed up for, but the timing is unfortunate.
I think I’ll go cry and then get back to work.

11 hours of straight sleep. Being at home really does make a difference. Now a roofer is up on the roof, the sun is out, and I need to figure what to do about my hair. Plus go to an office supply store and do laundry.

Home to Portland today. I’m in a mod hotel in San Fran. Yesterday I had a little time to myself so I immediately went the one place that was absolutely necessary.
Osento.
Never have I appreciated a soak, a wet sauna and a naked sunbathing in the sunshine so much. I did the rounds twice: soak, steam, cold plunge, sunbathe. I walked back down Valencia a very happy girl, stopping in Good Vibrations to rummage around and at Ti Couz for a quick crepe.
Thomas will arrive on the 20th and the whole thing starts up again for three nights before winding down again for a week. Then it is off to NYC. I have been writing more in my LJ than here, because it’s easier somehow…but mostly, I’m working. I brought a book and haven’t cracked it since the plane. Speaking of planes, sigh. One more today. Get me home safe.

AHAHAHAHAAH!
AHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!~
AHAHA.
Oh yes. Morning in Malibu. I am so busy.
When Thomas met me at the Ashes and Snow exhibit yesterday he greeted me with a hug and “Welcome to Rock and Roll!”
Overtired. More later.

It’s almost Dolby tour time! I’m still booking hotels a smidge but the west leg is done. I’ve started making the advance calls to the clubs, to make sure everything is running ok and everyone has the info they need. More of that tomorrow. That’s probably how I will spend most of tomorrow. I want to try to escape to the metal studio before I leave for LA but…well, at least I will have class Tuesday night.
Roof:
We found the problem. Not huge to fix, DLJ has already made some good changes, but we might need someone to finish it off. There’s a vent thingy that should slope down along with the roof, but however they tried to stick it before, it came off, so the metal square sticks straight out, even a little up. So rain collects and flows backwards. Because it is a tile roof, can’t nail it down. Still. Now we have to clean up that section on the inside of the house, and make sure the problem is completely solved soon.
But it is sealed better now.
I got a little wacked in my last entry, but it’s a lot to think about right now. Thomas’ tour starts in less than 4 days. I’ve started packing for this first leg. I need to figure how I am going to get to the airport. I’m going to have to bum around Disney for part of the day until the House of Blues will let me in. I will have all my stuff and it’s too far to get out to Malibu where we are staying, so…ya, me and my luggage at Disney. I still need a good clipboard I can’t find one! Everything I find is crappy plastic! I need to print out some organization forms I have made. I’m still waiting on some website stuff. All that plus the roof leak and the finishing of the previous remodel and getting ready to deal with the legal stuff there, plus my own business and then the whole kid thing. Yeah. I got a little bent.
Friday I went out to CDBaby to grab some more receipts. That was fun, to see what CDBaby looks like. One. Huge. Warehouse.
I can’t wait for the tour to start, and I am terrified. But when Thomas is up there and the music is happening, it will all be good times.

and inside the closet upstairs. Mold.
I went in the attic. It’s coming from the roof.
Sometimes I feel like this whole want to stay home and have a kid thing is fruitless.
I’ll have to go back to work. If the house keeps throwing things like this at us…I’ll have no choice.

I have been getting SOME work done. I have to go get some koalas out of the kiln shortly to go to Australia!

…ok I wasn’t. Well, not here. Over in my LJ I was.
I will admit to having a small fixation on Pink Martini’s amazing trumpet player. Blessed as DLJ and I are to live in the Portland area, we see them quite often. First time I ever saw them in 2003, within 2 weeks of moving to Oregon, I locked on Gavin’s trumpet ability, hair, and well, charisma, I guess.
Do you know Pink Martini? You SHOULD. They are all amazing. I’ve joked that when I go to a Pink Martini show I don’t know if I should be thrilled by the music or go change my panties.
But I am really glad DLJ loves them too, we have a good time every show we go to and I love sharing fun nights out with him.
They are playing 4 gigs soon, in a row, with all the money going to charities. One is the same night Thomas Dolby is playing at the Aladdin, with my tour manager duties for Dolby, no can go. The day after, we go to Boise for the next gig, so that’s out. The day before, well, I get the feeling I am going to be pretty zonked, though it WOULD be nice to go to a show I am not working. Day before that, I will be flying back from the California Dolby gigs.
Martini, sleep, Martini, rest, Martini, glass…it’s a tough choice! I am a spoiled Lunesse indeed, since if I miss this round, well, they are locals for me. We haven’t had a TV since January so I have missed the OPB broadcasts of the NYE concert we went to. Feh. Hope it gets released on DVD someday so I can see it. They look like they won’t be back in OR for awhile though, so…maybe I will have to go for it. I’ll sleep when I’m dead, right?
Ok Gavin, you win. Darn you and your nice suits and amazing abilities. =)
