Busy Friday

My stomach hurts. I need to nap.

So this is shorter than I wanted.

I got my first set of needles today for knitting, that are my own. I am going to try to make Derek a simple scarf for my first project. But I have to remember how to cast on, I may try tonight. My friend who taught me the beginnings of knitting helped me today to pick out my yarn and my needles and is up for a refresher one evening next week.

Too short, sorry. Must rest.

Sorry, sorry, haven’t posted in this journal for a bit.
We are all fine here, everything’s fine…how are you?

Last week we went to Breitenbush and soaked in hot springs and slept in tents and hiked and drank fabulous filtered water from the nearby river. It was excellent.

This morning DLJ put the final waterproof seal on our back deck…a couple weekends ago he and my Dad sanded and re-stained it. It looks great and this was one of our 3 projects for the summer to complete, and the biggest one. The other two, one is almost done, that was repainting the bathroom. That is complete, I just need to repaint the cabinet and put on the new glass knobs I made myself for it. And the last one is repainting the front door, which is not done at all, but luckily is a one day job.

Derek turned two last week, and had a fine party and fun with friends and family. It moves so fast. I am glad he still nurses with me, loves to nurse and snuggle in the mornings and late afternoons, and still sleeps in his crib. He has his whole life to grow up, and I’m very content with him taking his own time with things. I can’t believe how fast it goes and it will only go faster, so each stage is precious and well-loved.

I’m at a cafe, and need to be writing instead of blathering here, so I will end for now. All is well. I hope all is well with you, too.

Waving, not Drowning

Friday Night Glass

A little glass gorgeousness to start the weekend. I just shape it, I don’t make those fabulous colors. :p Well…I summon them, I guess, but they are already in there for me to find!

Have a good weekend, everyone! It’s my Bday tomorrrow, I think we are going camping….in the backyard!

Goal!

Counter is clean. I don’t mean just clean, every day clean. I wanted stuff OFF it. It was too cluttered. I love our home but we have that “built in the 70’s” problem of counters and cupboards not able to work well together. My blender won’t fit under the cupboards, and not in most of them either, due to size. It’s not a big deal, but when I get too many appliances on the surfaces I get cranky.

But it’s taken care of!

Modest

Some days have loftier goals than others. Today, I just want my counters clean in the kitchen.

Hope I can get there. Derek is getting amazingly opinionated, busy, and distractable all at the same time. It’s 10:30 and we JUST finished breakfast. Crazy.

Also….

Forgot to mention…in this journal, anyway ( I posted a photo in my members-only livejournal), last Monday I finally hung out with Pete, the Naked Eyes artist. I hadn’t seen him since the Naked Eyes/Thomas show in 2006. We had a really nice dinner and then took my guitar up to his room and he played some songs. It would have been a totally fun evening had the valet not slowly reversed my car into a pillar in the garage, and I laid on the garage floor for almost 2 hours waiting to see if AAA could tow it, or not. It’s at the shop now. It’s my Mom’s Mercedes, with about 3k damage, they say. Joy. We have a rental car. The hotel is paying, but sheesh. It’s only a thing, and money, money that isn’t my problem, but the valet must have felt really bad. But not bad enough to say anything about me laying on the floor of the parking garage at 1 AM, shivering, with my purse for a pillow. Feh.

It was worth it to see Pete again!

Phew

Party over. It was a very good time and everyone had fun. We have a lot of stuff leftover. Oof, people brought such interesting items!

Derek just had a strange cry jag upstairs, and now it is over. Way past bedtime. I think he is just tired, it’s rare for him to do that.
We are pretty sure he has now been in a dry diaper for 24 hours. Go, Derek! Yer not even 2!
